While your project is live
As folks pledge to your project, you will be able to see more information about them in your project’s backer report. You can access the backer report via the creator tools menu, located on the left-hand side of your project page.
While your project is live you will be able to see a backer’s name, pledge amount, reward selected, and their shipping country, if applicable. If a backer has left a comment on your project page you will be able to quickly view this information by clicking on their name in the comment, followed by the “View pledge” button.
A backer’s email address won’t be visible in the backer report until after a project ends and is successfully funded. This means that while a project is still live, or if a project is canceled or unsuccessful, backer email addresses will not populate in the backer report.
After your project ends successfully
After your project has ended successfully, and if you are using Kickstarter’s Backer Survey tool, you will be able to see all information collected through the survey responses in the backer report, such as mailing addresses, item variant preferences (e.g. size, color), and any other details you requested. If you notice any information is missing, the chances are that the backer hasn’t filled out their survey yet.
You can export the backer report as a CSV file, this will help with managing your project’s fulfillment. You can read more about using the backer report here.
If you choose to use a third-party survey service, you will still be able to view the default backer information in your backer report (backer’s name, pledge amount, reward selected, and their shipping country, if applicable). You can also use it to leave a note to yourself for each backer, and keep track of which rewards have been shipped, or are in progress, by updating the status.
Please note: For backers who have opted to hide their email address when signing up to Kickstarter with their Apple ID, you will only be able to see their private relay email address in your backer report at the end of the campaign. The unique private relay email address tied to their Kickstarter account can only be used for communication within Kickstarter. This means that any communication you may send outside of our platform will unfortunately not reach their inbox.
If your backer report access has expired, you can request an extension by following a few simple steps.
What information can’t I see about my backers?
Credit card information will not be shown in the backer report. Creators are required to keep backer information confidential, except as strictly necessary to communicate with backers directly and fulfill rewards.
As a creator you should never ask a backer for information that isn’t necessary for fulfilling their reward, or request sensitive personal information such as their Social Security number or payment information. You can read more under the “Information that’s shared with creators and collaborators” section of our Privacy Policy.
