For creators using Kickstarter’s Pledge Manager or Backer Survey, backers will have the option to update the address they submitted, until addresses are locked.
When you’re ready to start shipping rewards you can lock addresses on the ‘Pledge manager’ page or ‘Backer survey’ page. After addresses are locked we will alert backers that they have 48 hours to make any last minute changes to their address. At the end of this 48 hours, any backers who have submitted their pledge manager or survey will no longer be able to change their address.
- Pledge Manager
Backers will only be able to make changes to their address after completing the pledge manager and if the creator hasn’t yet locked addresses. If they need to adjust their answer to any other survey questions (for example, reward size or color), they will need to contact you directly and any important edits can be left as a note in your backer report.
Please note that once the pledge manager has been closed, any backers yet to submit their address will no longer be able to do so. In the event that a backer doesn’t respond in time, their pledge amount will become bonus support and you will need to work with them to see if an alternative arrangement can be made.
Can backers change their shipping country through the Kickstarter Pledge Manager?
Yes! As shipping is only charged upon completion of the pledge manager, backers can change their shipping country when providing their address, provided the country they are looking to change to is one that has been set up as a shipping zone. Please note that it is only possible to change a backer’s shipping country before they complete the pledge manager. After this point a backer can only update their address to one in the same country until the creator locks addresses.
- Backer Survey only
Backers will only be able to make changes to their address after submitting their survey response. If they need to adjust their answer to any other survey questions (for example, reward size or color), they will need to contact you directly and any important edits can be left as a note in your backer report.
Please note that locking addresses for the survey does not stop any backers who are yet to submit their survey response from still doing so. As such, we recommend waiting until all backers have completed their survey before locking addresses.
If I am not using the Kickstarter Pledge Manager, can backers change their shipping country?
Unfortunately, no. Backers cannot change their shipping country through Kickstarter after the project has ended if the creator is only using the survey tool or a third-party service. If the incorrect shipping fee was collected due to the wrong country/region being selected, you will need to work with the backer directly to find a solution outside of Kickstarter.
