When it comes to marketing your project, knowledge is power. With so many marketing touchpoints to consider and leverage, it’s crucial that you have a clear and trusted way to measure the impact of various marketing tactics you and Kickstarter deploy on your behalf.
That’s where marketing attribution comes in. It’s used to determine which marketing tactics—and subsequent backer interactions—drove a desired outcome (pledge).
There are many different approaches and models for measuring attribution. As of October 2024, we have moved to a multi-touch attribution model, as we want to prioritize understanding and measuring impact across the full backer journey to a pledge.
What is a multi-touch model?
A multi-touch model allows us to evaluate anonymized user data across the full journey to a pledge, and attribute credit to the various touchpoints along a backer's path to a successful pledge.
How does Kickstarter’s attribution model work?
We use server authoritative attribution data that allows us to evaluate anonymized user actions across the comprehensive backer journey to a pledge. This approach measures all the touchpoints that lead to a successful pledge and credits across the breadth of the backer’s actions.
Where can I see reporting and attribution for my project?
Your project dashboard will have up-to-the-minute stats about your funding progress. You can access this by selecting ‘Dashboard’ from the creator tools menu, located on the left-hand side of your project page.
