3D Secure (3DS) is a process that provides an additional layer of security that helps to confirm you are the one making the transaction and prevent the unauthorized use of your card details.
You can learn more about how 3D Secure works on Stripe’s resource page.
Why isn’t my pledge going through at checkout?
When you make a pledge, your card issuer may require an extra security check (3DS authentication challenge) before the payment can be authorized. This step may include entering a one-time code or password, or approving the transaction attempt in your banking app.
Note: Security prompts may vary from card issuer to card issuer. Our Common Pledge Problems article can also help you to troubleshoot your pledge issue.
Why is my pledge still not going through after I confirmed the 3DS authentication challenge?
This can happen for a few reasons, such as a decline from your bank, card limits or restrictions, or the 3DS verification step timing out before it was completed.
Please also be aware that your mobile device may not support the 3DS technology from your bank so you’ll want to try to pledge and complete the authentication challenge on your desktop.
If your bank has given you the greenlight that the pledge transaction should go through, you will need to try again. We do not try to re-authenticate automatically.
If you continue to experience issues, please re-attempt your pledge using a different payment method.
