Adding a table of contents to your project is a great way to help backers navigate to a specific section of your story. This could be more in depth information about rewards, your stretch goal plans, or an introduction to the team behind your campaign. The table of contents is created using headings added to your project’s story.
To add a heading, simply click the “+” button next to the relevant text and choose “Heading” from the dropdown menu. When a heading is added this will automatically become part of the interactive table of contents, located in the left-hand sidebar of your project page.
How do I share a direct link to a section of my project's story?
When your project is live, you can link to a specific section of your project page by following the below steps:
- Click on one of the sections in your project’s table of contents
- Copy the updated URL from the browser address bar
- Then simply, share it! When someone clicks on that link they will now be automatically taken to that specific section of your project’s story.
Please note: This feature only works on desktop and mobile web. It is not currently supported on the Kickstarter mobile app.
Can I generate a direct link to a section of my project's story, ahead of launching?
To generate a link to a section of your project’s story before launching, you can do so by previewing your project page and following steps 1 and 2 above. However, before sharing the link, you will first need to remove part of the URL. We have marked in red the part of the URL that will need to be removed below.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/creatorname/project-name/edit/preview?ref=project_build#h:Section
After that part of the URL has been removed, the final URL should look something like this:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/creatorname/project-name#h:Section
Once your project launches, anyone clicking this link will be automatically taken to the specific section of your project’s story.
Can I use an image for a section heading?
Yes! To turn an image into a section header within your project description, select the image in the editor and choose “Use image as section heading” from the options that appear above it. Next, add the section heading text and click the check icon to save. When viewing your project you’ll see the heading text in the table of contents in the left-hand sidebar of your project page, and clicking on this will navigate you to the header image.
