If you don’t have a connection to a creator, you may want to get a better idea of who they are. We require every creator to verify their identity before they can launch a project on Kickstarter, and their verified name can be found on the Creator tab* of their project.
On the Creator tab, you can also find additional resources, such as links to their website or social media pages, relevant background information, including their location, when they last logged in, how active they are as a backer on Kickstarter, have they ran any previous projects, and, if applicable, who their collaborators are.
Aside from this, carefully reading through the project description, including the Risks and challenges section, and watching their project video should help to give you a better sense of the person or team behind the project. We encourage backers to do their homework on a project before deciding to pledge.
If you have further questions about a project, we recommend sending the creator a message as they will be best placed to help you. You can do so via the following steps:
- Head to the creator’s project page
- Open the Creator tab to view their bio
- Click the “Message me” button and send them a message through Kickstarter
*The Creator tab is currently only available on desktop and mobile web. If you are using the Kickstarter app you can tap on the creator’s profile name to open up their bio and find more information.
