When building the rewards for your project, you can set the availability based on time, quantity, and audience. By limiting the audience of a reward tier to select backers only, you will be creating a Secret Reward. This reward tier could be for folks who follow you on social media, subscribe to your Patreon, or those who have supported you on Kickstarter since the start.
To set a reward as a Secret Reward, simply choose “Select backers only (Secret Reward)” for 'Audience' under the ‘Availability’ section when creating the reward. After the reward has been saved, you can go ahead and share the link provided for that reward with your backers. When your project is live, those backers can then use that private link to access and pledge to the Secret Reward. This reward won’t be visible to anyone accessing your project page without that link.
Please note: Backers will need to be logged in on desktop or mobile web in order to view and pledge to a Secret Reward. In the event that a backer visits a project page while logged out, they will not be able to see the reward until they have logged in. Additionally, backers using the Kickstarter app will be unable to access a Secret Reward.
Can I add a Secret Reward to my Late Pledges?
At this time, Secret Rewards are only possible while a campaign is live.
Can I set an add-on to be a Secret Reward?
For now, it’s only possible to set a reward tier to be a Secret Reward.
Is it possible to change the availability of a Secret Reward?
Once a reward is created as a Secret Reward it won’t be possible to change this. Instead, we recommend duplicating the reward and making sure the availability settings for the new reward are set to “All backers”.
Will backers with one Secret Reward link be able to access all Secret Rewards?
No, each Secret Reward will have a unique link. If your project features multiple Secret Rewards, backers will only be able to see the reward that is associated with the unique link they have received.
