When you receive a message in your inbox on Kickstarter, you may see a Kickstarter Team badge next to the sender’s name. If you see this badge, you can safely assume that the person messaging you is a current Kickstarter employee.
While we may not message you directly on the platform often, this badge is the source of truth for knowing if the message sender works at Kickstarter. This means that if you receive a message from someone claiming to work at Kickstarter, but they do not have the Kickstarter Team badge, you should not engage with them – even if their profile has the name of a real employee.
Unfortunately, like many other platforms, we’ve recently seen an influx of spam messages from dishonest users targeting creators. We are working hard to improve our spam detection and block these users from the platform. In the meantime, we hope this update helps creators differentiate between spammers and real Kickstarter team members.
