Creators launch projects on Kickstarter to bring their creative idea to life, but in order to do that they need the support of backers. When you choose to back a project on Kickstarter, you are supporting that creator in their endeavour to try and create something new.
By launching a project on Kickstarter, a creator is inviting people to form a contract with them. Anyone who backs a project is accepting that creator’s offer, and forming that contract. More information about this can be found in our Terms of Use*.
We do our best to support creators when it doesn’t look like they will be able to finish their project as they had initially hoped, and we expect them to bring it to a satisfying conclusion for their backers. This includes letting backers know what it is that is preventing them from fulfilling, and how the funds they raised on Kickstarter were used.
Can I get a refund?
The funds that you pledged to a project went directly to the creator to help them with bringing their creative idea to life. If the creator has already used the funds to pay for project costs, they may not be in a position to offer refunds.
Remember, backing a project on Kickstarter is not the same as buying an existing item in a store, and as such receiving a reward in return for pledging is not guaranteed.
*Note: These terms went into effect on November 30, 2022, and apply to all projects launched on or after that date. At the bottom of the Terms of Use page you can find versions of our Terms of Use from 2012 to the present. The October 2012 terms only apply to projects launched on or before October 18th, 2014.
